LEAVES AND GARDEN WASTE ONLY
You can help the Solid Waste pickup team if each solid waste container is clearly identified. Closed household garbage cans delay the pickup process. THANK YOU for helping to keep our time and costs down.
Starting in MAY , the Town of Fenton Solid Waste Department will begin picking up the grass, shrub trimmings, and tree branches throughout the Town. Hours of operation are 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM . The Solid Waste Department will be picking up MONDAYS and TUESDAYS ONLY (except for holidays, then pickup will be the following day). All the materials must be at curbside Sunday evening. If you do not have your grass, branches, etc. out when they go by, they will not return until the following week. NO EXCEPTIONS!
The following are the guidelines for disposal of various items:
GRASS CLIPPING AND LEAVES
Clippings are to be placed in biodegradable plastic bags and placed at the curb, NOT TIED. Please limit bag and can weight to 50 pounds per bag. Any bags containing foreign materials (stones, sod, garbage, etc.) will not be taken.
SAFETY NOTE
DO NOT place biodegardable bags and brush in the street creating a safety hazard. Keep them behind the curb or paved portion of the street.
SHRUB TRIMMINGS AND SMALL TREE BRANCHES
Shrub trimmings that can be compacted by hand, can be placed in biodegradable plastic bags or plastic cans with grass and will be handled like grass. Larger trimmings and branches (up to 1 inch) have to be reduced to 3 foot lengths and tied in bundles no more than 15 inches in diameter and must weigh less than 25 pounds.
LARGE TREE BRANCHES
(UP TO 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER)
Reduce to no more than 4 foot lengths and place at curb with butts toward the street. Branches with wide side should be reduced to a width of 24 inches, for ease of entry into our chipper.
DO NOT place whole bushes and trees at the curb. THEY WILL NOT BE PICKED UP!
TREES
Trees on the Right Of Way of streets and roads are the responsibility of the Town and will be trimmed or removed at the discretion of the Town. Call the Highway Superintendent at 648-5080 if you have a problem with trees on the Right Of Way. Trees on resident’s property are the responsibility of the property owner.
The Solid Waste Department WILL NOT pick up and dispose of large volumes of brush, etc. from any land clearing activities or from work done by a professional tree service. The Town’s service is designed to pick up and dispose of brush and limbs that are incidental to property maintenance and occasional storm damage.
ATTENTION RESIDENTS:
DURING THE SPRING SEASON PLEASE DO NOT RAKE YOUR LAWNS TO THE ROADSIDE. YOU MUST USE CONTAINERS.
LATE FALL IS THE ONLY TIME WE PICKUP LEAVES AT CURBSIDE UNCONTAINED.
